Under Armour Curry 1
FIRST OFFICIAL RELEASE: FEBRUARY 13, 2015
LEAD DESIGNER: DAVE DOMBROW
RETAIL PRICE: $120
The Under Armour Curry 1 marked Stephen Curry’s official debut as a signature athlete for the brand, representing a pivotal moment in both his career and Under Armour’s evolution within performance basketball footwear. Designed by Dave Dombrow, then Under Armour’s Vice President and Creative Director of Footwear, the Curry 1 was built from the ground up to complement Curry’s quick, controlled, and high-energy style of play.
The silhouette introduced several new technologies like the AnaFoam Upper that emphasized lightweight structure, and the Charged Cushioning that provided responsive cushioning, and enhanced stability—qualities that became hallmarks of the Curry line in the years that followed.
TECH SPECS
AnaFoam: The upper utilizes Under Armour’s proprietary AnaFoam, a blend of stretch textile and EVA foam molded to the foot’s natural shape. This body-mapped construction delivers lightweight structure, targeted support, and a secure, anatomical fit.
Charged Cushioning®: Debuting for the first time in the Curry 1, Charged Cushioning was engineered to absorb impact on landings and convert it into responsive energy return. The dual-density setup feels soft during casual wear but firms up during gameplay for dynamic responsiveness.

Under Armour Curry 2
FIRST OFFICIAL RELEASE: OCTOBER 24, 2015
LEAD DESIGNER: DAVE DOMBROW & RASHAD WILLIAMS
RETAIL PRICE: $130
Building on the success of Stephen Curry’s debut signature model, the Under Armour Curry 2 refined the formula with improved fit, support, and stability. Co-designed by Dave Dombrow and Rashad Williams, the model introduced Under Armour’s SpeedForm technology—a construction method originally developed for running footwear—into basketball for the first time. The result was a more anatomical, compression-like fit designed to move seamlessly with the foot.
The Curry 2 emphasized precision fit and on-court control, blending structural overlays with responsive cushioning and enhanced traction. This model marked a key evolution in the Curry line, solidifying its reputation for technical performance over stylistic excess.
TECH SPECS
SpeedForm Construction: Introduced to basketball through the Curry 2, SpeedForm technology created a seamless heel cup and one-piece interior for a snug, sock-like fit. The design eliminated traditional layers and sockliner pullouts, producing a smooth, form-fitting interior that adapted to movement.
Synthetic Fuse Forefoot: A lightweight synthetic fuse material was applied to the forefoot for durability and containment during sharp directional changes.
Charged Cushioning®: The Curry 2 continued to utilize Under Armour’s Charged Cushioning foam in a full-length, compression-molded midsole. It delivered responsive impact absorption and energetic rebound, tailored for quick acceleration and control.

Under Armour Curry 4
FIRST OFFICIAL RELEASE: OCTOBER 27, 2017
LEAD DESIGNER: KORT NEUMANN
RETAIL PRICE: $130
The Under Armour Curry 4 represented a major design shift for the Curry line—stripped down, streamlined, and engineered for natural movement and precision control. Designed by Kort Neumann, the model emphasized simplicity and fluid performance, reducing weight and layering for a more connected feel between the foot and court.
Worn by Stephen Curry during the Golden State Warriors’ 2017 championship run, the Curry 4 became one of the most recognizable models in his signature line. It marked a return to minimalism, replacing the structured builds of previous entries with a softer, sock-like upper and a sculpted, one-piece midsole-outsole system.
TECH SPECS
Knit Collar Construction: A high-top knit collar integrated directly into the upper for a seamless, form-fitting feel around the ankle, offering both freedom of movement and supportive compression.
Synthetic Microfiber Quarter Panel: Lightweight synthetic materials provided containment and reinforcement in high-stress zones without adding bulk.
One-Piece Upper Design: The Curry 4 utilized a continuous upper unit that blended textile and synthetic overlays for a locked-in, second-skin fit.
EVA Foam Midsole: The shoe featured a full-length EVA foam setup designed for lightweight responsiveness and low-to-the-ground stability. The sculpted midsole delivered a consistent ride, tuned for Curry’s quick acceleration and stop-start agility.

Under Armour Curry 5
FIRST OFFICIAL RELEASE: MARCH 14, 2018
LEAD DESIGNER: DAVE DOMBROW
RETAIL PRICE: $130
The Under Armour Curry 5 marked a pivotal evolution in Stephen Curry’s signature line, becoming the first low-top model in the series. Designed by Dave Dombrow, the shoe was built around the concept of agility and precision—allowing Curry to stay low to the ground while maintaining complete control in all phases of motion.
The Curry 5 launched on March 14, 2018, a symbolic date tied to both Curry’s birthday and the mathematical constant π (Pi). The shoe’s design was inspired by the concept of “squaring the circle,” a mathematical paradox representing the pursuit of the impossible—a fitting metaphor for Curry’s boundary-breaking approach to the game. Subtle nods to Pi can be found across the design and packaging, reinforcing its thematic identity.
TECH SPECS
Knit Construction: The upper features a full-knit build that delivers lightweight flexibility and a sock-like fit, allowing natural movement and adaptive support.
Anafoam Technology: Strategic Anafoam overlays are applied primarily along the lateral side to reinforce key containment zones and enhance lockdown during quick cuts.
Full-Length EVA Foam: The midsole utilizes full-length EVA foam engineered for lightweight cushioning and responsive energy return.
Speed Plate Integration: A full-length speed plate embedded within the midsole offers structural integrity and efficient energy transfer during dynamic movements.
Pebax® Shank: A Pebax shank positioned under the midfoot adds torsional rigidity and stability, ensuring balance during rapid changes of direction.
