Following Stephen Curry’s departure from Under Armour in November 2025, the four-time NBA champion entered sneaker free agency, opening the door to new opportunities and partnerships across the footwear industry.
On January 19, 2026, Curry took the court against the Miami Heat wearing the Way of Wade 12 “Obsidian.” as an homage to the Miami Heat Legend, Dwyane Wade. He finished the night with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists while connecting on five of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc, helping Golden State secure a 135–112 victory.
The Way of Wade 12 “Obsidian” features a predominantly black silhouette accented by hits of teal. Most notably, Curry Brand detailing appears on the tongue, heel, and insole, distinguishing the pair from the standard Way of Wade 12.
Underneath the special branding, the model retains the performance technology found throughout the Way of Wade 12 line, including SUPER BOOM cushioning underfoot and a carbon-fiber plate engineered for propulsion, all within one of the lightest performance packages in Way of Wade line.
On September 9, 2026, now officially signed with Li-Ning, Curry began his annual tour, and first with the brand, of China with appearances in Dongguan, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shenzhen. During the tour, Li-Ning unveiled a China-exclusive collection featuring several Curry-branded releases—including the Way of Wade 12 “Obsidian”.
