Stephen Curry launched Unanimous Media in 2018, and in collaboration with Sony Pictures, the company released its first feature film, Breakthrough, on April 19, 2019. To commemorate this milestone, Under Armour created a Player Exclusive edition of the Curry 6, named after the film, ‘Breakthrough.’ Featuring icy blue tones and a crackled ice graphic along the toe and heel counter, the colorway mirrors the film’s central narrative—a family’s extraordinary journey following their son’s near-fatal fall through the fractured ice of a frozen lake.
"To celebrate the film's theater debut, we wanted to partner with Under Armour to create a shoe that was inspired by one of the more significant moments in the film," said Jeron Smith, CEO of Unanimous Media. "One of the advantages of Stephen's presence as a producer in Hollywood is using his holistic enterprise ecosystem to fuel each other."
On April 24, 2019, Stephen Curry debuted the Curry 6 ‘Breakthrough’ during Game 4 of the first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers. He recorded 24 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists, while shooting 4-of-5 from three-point range, in a 121–129 loss.
